As the scavenger hunt participants arrive at the centre via a fictitious framework (i.e. story), it is important that the staff at the visited facility pick up on this story and link it to the activity in a meaningful way. The form of activity that takes place within the facilities varies greatly:
- from a conversation,
- to a puzzle to be solved
- to trying out what the centre has to offer,
anything is possible. However, it is important that the activity addresses individual dimensions of health literacy (i.e. finding, understanding, critically evaluating and applying information).
Ideas for activities at a station:
- Searching for and finding messages or other items belonging to the main character in the facility.
- For the topic of nutrition, for example, an estimation game on the nutritional values of certain foods is ideal.
- For the topic of movement and physical health, the completion of playful physical tasks is ideal.
- A quiz or crossword puzzle provides an entertaining introduction to the programme.
