How and why do parents have to give their consent for participants under the age of 16 to use the app?

In order to be able to play a Nebolus scavenger hunt in the app, the location of the smartphone is used (while using the app). This location information is part of the personal data.

In the app, consent to the transfer of personal data is given by clicking the button at the end of the text labelled "PERMIT". The app cannot be used without consent.

According to the General Data Protection Regulation (Art. 8 para. 1 DSGVO), persons who have reached the age of 16 can effectively give their consent without the agreement of their legal guardians. Participants under the age of 16 must ask their parents or a legal guardian for consent to use the Nebolus app.
