Step 3: Creating a backstory

In the section "Backstory" must be uploaded a background image, a background story and a description of the scavenger hunt. The informations stored here are the first informations shown to scavenger hunt participants after they have created a profile in the app.

Background image

The background image should represent the theme of the scavenger hunt and give a visual impression of the story (Where can I find free images for the scavenger hunt?).

Backstory voice message

In addition, an MP3 file should be uploaded that introduces the story (Which programmes can be used to record voice messages?). In this voice message, for example, the secondary character can turn to the scavenger hunt participants and describe a situation that requires the help of the scavenger hunt participants. The first voice message allows the participants to immerse themselves in the story, which should awaken their interest. But the voice message should not be excessively long in order to hold the listener's attention. Experience shows that a maximum length of 2 minutes is sufficient for the backstory.

Description of the scavenger hunt

Finally, enter a short description of the scavenger hunt in a text field, which will be shown in the app. It is a good idea to refer to the goal within the story here (e.g. "Find the hidden messages from missing Emma and find out what happened to her.").
